Would you like to know what history smells like? The small shop, La Ribera, was founded in 1941. It sells sardines and canned seafood, and also salted and dried cod, used to make bacalao. Today you will find a rich assortment of pickles, cheese, embutidos, olives, wine and canned seafood, and the atmosphere is the same as it was when it started.


The area is now more interesting than ever. Mercat del Born is newly renovated and is surrounded with a lot of nice restaurants.


La Ribera sells food to restaurants and cafés, but private people can also buy food from the shop. I recommend this place if you want to taste amazing food, and feel the incredible atmosphere you will find there.
